Minmeoru Beach is a beach on Seongmodo Island, a small island to the west of Ganghwado Island. Visitors can enjoy sea bathing on the vast stretch of sandy beach and watch beautiful sunsets over the West Sea. When the tide goes out, a mud flat of approximately one kilometer in length appears. The mud flat is very smooth and is home to marine life including clams, crabs, and more. It is recommended for visitors to wear rubber boots or shoes when walking on the mud flat to prevent injuring their feet. The Eoryujeonghang Harbor and Janggothang Harbor are located nearby, so visitors can also enjoy sea fishing. Popular tourist attractions in the vicinity include Maaekseokbul (a Buddha image carved on a cliff) and Bomunsa Temple, which is said to have been constructed by Queen Seondeok during the Silla period.

Sky Garden, located next to Incheon International Airport, becomes covered with pink cosmos flowers every fall. Cosmos shimmering in the autumn sunlight creates a fantastic atmosphere by forming waves with gentle breeze. In addition to cosmos, silver grass and pink muhly are added to the 36,000 ㎡ gardens so that visitors can feel the season’s mood. Recently, even orange cosmos have been planted so visitors can enjoy more vibrant colors. Above all, it is a flower garden that can be enjoyed for free, allowing anyone to visit anytime without any burden.

Another attraction of Sky Garden is the sight of planes taking off and landing at Incheon International Airport. The sight of plane flying across the sky over the bed of flowers create a magical scenery.
Sorae Port is located in Namdong-gu, Incheon, and is one of the most accessible places to feel the sea in the metropolitan area. It has a painful past and is also a tourist destination created by that bitter past. In the late 1930s, it began developing with the construction of a railroad to exploit high-quality salt, a raw material for gunpowder, from the area. After liberation, displaced people gathered to catch shrimp with one or two non-powered ships, made salted shrimp, and took Suin Line trains to Incheon, Suwon, Bupyeong, Seoul, etc., from dawn to sell them, and make a living. The fish market is famous for shrimp, salted seafood, and blue crab. Fresh seafood, generous merchants, and the sound of seagulls drawing patterns in the blue sky following the fishing boats leave a deep aftertaste. In particular, when prawns and blue crabs are in season, the freshness and taste are excellent enough to hold a festival.

By the port is a newly renovated fish market spans from the first basement floor to the second floor above the ground, and there are about 340 shops, including 300 hoe (sliced raw fish) restaurants and salted seafood shops. In particular, the second floor is a restaurant where visitors can taste hoe purchased at the fish market, and there are also convenient facilities such as a nursery cafe. In addition, the recently built Shrimp Tower Observatory is 21 meters high and good for a small number of people to enjoy the scenery comfortably.

The previous salt storage has been converted into an ecology exhibition space, displaying the history of the area as well as the plants and animals that live here. The park expanded in April 2001 with the addition of the Ecology Hall and Nature Learning Center, offering various educational experience opportunities. The walking paths by the salt storage and the windmill are especially popular photo points. Many people visit in fall for the shimmering silver grass, said to appear in many colors depending on the lighting.
“Got” in the name of Wolgot means peninsula and the area was considered an important strategic point during the Joseon dynasty. In 1991 a land reclaimation project succeeded in creating a new recreation site. Now there are many seafood restaurants, various auxiliary facilities, and an amusement park that rest on reclaimed land. Because the inlet is located on the west coast where the difference in the water level between high and low tide is great, fishing boats avoid the area during the shifting tides. But, whenever the boats return, visitors can enjoy fresh sushi and other seafood. The Marine World facilities have authentic European-style restaurants, an outdoor seawater pool that can be used free of charge, and a barbecue facility along with other amenities.

Songdo Hanok Village is a hanok village built in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It is not a village of old traditional houses but a hanok complex newly built in 2013. The contrast between the high-rise buildings of Songdo International City and the hanok complex creates a space where the West and the East meet. It is said that the initial plan was to create a space for experiencing traditional culture, but now the entire site of the hanok traditional village is leased to a restaurant and used for commercial facilities such as hotels, restaurants, and cafes built in hanok. It is also known as the filming location for the dramas, attracting many visitors.

At first glance, Gyeongwonjae Ambassador may appear somewhat out of place: A classical hanok hotel nestled amidst a forest of cutting-edge skyscrapers. However, this juxtaposition aligns perfectly with its concept, “a walk through time on the Korean peninsula.” This unique blend of tradition and modernity has earned Gyeongwonjae not only the distinction of being the first five-star hanok hotel in Korea but also the prestigious “Stars of Korean Tourism” award from the Korea Tourism Organization. Remarkably, it has achieved this claim despite lacking many contemporary hotel amenities such as swimming pools, saunas, and bars.
A stay at Gyeongwonjae offers a unique experience that can only be found in a hanok, a space that encapsulates Korean traditions. The single-story building, with its low eaves and absence of flamboyant dancheong (decorative coloring), exemplifies the aesthetic of unadorned humility that characterizes Korean culture. It harmoniously blends into the surrounding nature. Guests can partake in a traditional tea ceremony followed by a rejuvenating soak in a cypress bathtub filled with water infused with traditional Korean medicinal materials, clearing the mind of clutter and promoting natural healing.

Ara Waterway flows 18 kilometers from the Hangang River to the West Sea. Opened in 2012, the waterway serves to quickly remove excess water from the surrounding areas to prevent flooding. The waterway also serves as a key route for transporting cargo via ship, as well as a natural green space.

The idea of Ara Waterway started nearly 800 years ago during the Joseon dynasty by King Gojong. Unfortunately, his plan could not be completed at that time due to technical obstacles and the difficult state of the country. After countless efforts and preparation, the construction of the waterway began in 2009 and opened in 2012.

The first naengmyeon restaurant to open in Hwapyeong-dong did so in the early to mid-70s. It wasn’t until the early 2000’s that the area saw an influx of over 20 naengmyeon restaurants. These days, visitors can choose from 13 restaurants. In the beginning, the servings here were all the standard found anywhere else in Korea. However, many of the factory workers in the area would come here, and ask for additional servings during their lunch break. Eventually, the restaurants began to serve larger sizes, naturally leading to the use of a large bowl to one similar to what people would use when washing their faces. Another specialty of the naengmyeon here is the addition of yeolmu kimchi (young summer radish kimchi). Many restaurants also offer free, unlimited refills on noodles.

Located in Sinpo-dong, Incheon, Sinpo Market dates back to the late 19th century when vendors began selling fresh vegetables to the Japanese, Chinese, and Westerners who settled in the area. Sinpo Market was officially registered as a market in 1970 and now boasts over 140 stores.

An increasing number of tourists and international merchants have visited Incheon by ferries and cruise ships, turning the local market into an international shopping area over the past few decades. The information desk and office at the market even provide a variety of services (translation services, trade and shopping information, etc.) for tourists and merchants from home and abroad.

The most famous item of the market is dakgangjeong, a Korean dish of crispy fried chicken coated in a sweet and spicy sauce. Other popular dishes include yuni jjajang, egg tart, freshwater fish jeon, mandu, and jjolmyeon (chewy noodles).
