Details for the 2026 festivals will be updated as they become available.*Now celebrating its 30th edition, the Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival is the only festival in Seoul devoted to prehistoric culture. It highlights the historical importance of the Archaeological Site in Amsa-dong while giving visitors the chance to discover what life was like in prehistoric times through a wide range of programs. This year’s festival marks the 100th anniversary of the site’s discovery and takes place under the theme “The Breath of 6,000 Years, the Light of 100 Years, the Echoes of 30 Years.” The festival grounds are divided into four distinct zones inspired by water, fire, earth, and wind. Each zone brings its theme to life through creative displays, exhibitions, hands-on activities, nighttime programs, food, and performances. Over the course of three days, visitors can enjoy a unique experience that brings the past and present together.</p>

<p>The Archaeological Site in Amsa-dong reproduces the lifestyle of the Neolithic Era. Even the entrance gate is shaped like a huge dolmen and the trash cans are ancient diagonal-line patterned earthenware. Archaeological Site in Amsa-dong was excavated in 1925 when a flood washed away the soil on the banks of the Hangang River and exposed a large number of diagonal-line patterned earthenware. After several excavations, the Archaeological Site in Amsa-dong was established. </p>
<p> The site was a location for a massive colony, thus many ancient buildings, stone axes and stone arrows have been uncovered as well as countless diagonal-line patterned earthenware.  The housing site is round with a spot in the center for fire.  The site is colossal and possesses nine mud huts, two exhibition halls displaying ancient artifacts and an open mud hut where visitors can experience life in the Neolithic Era. The site offers many attractions such as mud huts and promenades. Archaeological Site in Amsa-dong is also very educational for children and families who want to learn and experience the Neolithic Age.</p>

<p>The archaeological sites in Amsa-dong, Seoul, were a collective settlement where people lived during the Neolithic Age about 6,000 years ago and became known to the world after the sand dunes along the Hangang River caved in during the great flood of 1925, exposing numerous pieces of comb-patterned pottery. The area designated as a historic site in 1979, and excavation of the site took place from 1981 to 1988. The cultural heritage protection area was expanded to a total area of ​​78,133㎡. Currently, nine Neolithic dugout huts and one experiential dugout hut have been restored. The exhibitions currently open to the public are Exhibition Hall 1, which displays a restoration of a Neolithic Age dugout, and Exhibition Hall 2, which displays various panels and models to help understand the prehistoric era as a whole.</p>

<p>Hangang Citizen&#8217;s Park, composed of 12 areas including Jamsil, Ttukseom and Jamwon, is an eco-friendly park providing areas for sports and leisure. The park is equipped with various cultural and recreational facilities and also has an ecological park. Gwangnaru Hangang Park formed naturally through rich silt that flowed in from the upper Hangang River that was then filled with reeds, creating an ideal habitat for groups of migratory birds.</p>

The kitchen uses freshly pressed sesame and perilla oils prepared in-house each day, adding depth and aroma to its dishes. Signature items include buckwheat noodles with perilla oil, bibimbap, brisket soup, ssambap (leaf wraps and rice) with beef soybean paste, grilled mackerel with fern risotto, hanu (Korean beef) tartare with seaweed gimbap, and smoked beef short ribs. Popular sides include pollock roe potato pancakes, chilled sliced pork, and olbanggae muk salad (arrowroot starch jelly salad).</p>
<p>Bottled sesame and perilla oils (200 ml) are also available for purchase, individually or as sets. The menu is available in multiple languages and includes vegan and gluten-free options. Corkage is available. The restaurant is about an 8–10 minute walk from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station.</p>

<p>Gyeongui Line Forest Park is a linear city park located in Mapo-gu and is also called Yeontral Park. <p>The National Hangeul Museum was established to preserve, spread, and develop the Korean alphabet, Hangeul. <p>Hyosajeong Pavilion is where Nohan, the second vice premier of the Joseon dynasty during King Sejong and King Sejo’s reign, stayed. After he lost his mother, he built the pavilion to mourn at her grave while still being able to see his father’s grave in Gaeseong to the North. His brother-in-law, then Minister of the Interior, Gang Sa-deok named the pavilion “Hyosajeong,” which means pavilion of filial piety.</p>
<p>In order to find the original location of the pavilion, poems by Jeong Inji and Seo Geojeong and an old map of Korea were referenced, but the pavilion was not found because the surrounding landscape had changed too much. As a result, a location was selected and the pavilion was reconstructed at its current location. The house is 3 kan* in the front and 2 kan* on the side. The roof is a hip-and-gable roof. The pavilion has one room with under floor heating and a railing around the pavilion</p>

<p>To mark its 65th anniversary, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra presents the “2026 Seoul Riverside Concert with the Federation of Korean Industries” on June 13 at Yeouido Hangang Park. The event brings together a full orchestral performance, appearances by world-class guest artists, and a fireworks finale.</p>

<p>Located at the Hangang River, Bamseom Island derives its name from its chestnut-like shape (bam in Korean). The island was designated as an Ecosystem Conservation Area by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 1999 and was later recognized as Ramsar Wetland in 2012. Now an uninhabited island, Bamseom Island was once home to around 443 people, who were relocated after the island was exploded as part of the Yeouido Development Project. Today, it is known as a habitat for numerous migratory birds and plant species. People can enjoy views of the Island from Bamseom Park.</p>

<p>Established by Korea International Trade Association and COEX, COEX Artium is a spacious muscial performance hall with over 800 seats. High quality and diverse musical or theatrical performances are held year-round to satisfy both Korean and international visitors. Foreign language services (English, Japanese, and Chinese) are also available. It has the Trade Promotion Exhibition Hall. Near COEX Artium are many performance halls such as COEX Art Hall (184 seats), Auditorium (1058 seats), Convention Hall (7,000 seats), ang Grand Conference Room (450 seats), making the COEX area a main place for cultural and musical performances in Seoul. <p>D-cube Arts Center is a state-of-the-art theater dedicated to musicals in D-cube City in Sindorim built by Daesung Energy. It took eight years to complete the 1,242-seated theater with the cooperation of Korea&#8217;s best music and construction engineers and expert stage technicians. It is the largest theater in southwestern Seoul and can accommodate all kinds of musical performances. Diverse musicals were held at this center, including Mamma Mia!, Man of La Mancha, Chicago, and Rent. The center also has necessary amenities like a rehearsal room and dressing room. Not only is D-cube Arts Center easy to reach by public transportation, but it is also easy to find thanks to the passageway that connects the center from and to Sindorim Station (Seoul Subway Lines 1 &amp; 2).
