When developing the Yeongdong Rainbow Healing Tourist Site, the Rainbow Healing Square was envisioned as a venue for four major festivals held in Yeongdong-gun. Later, the Rainbow Healing Center was created to represent and express Yeongdong’s concept of ‘healing,’ adding to the square as a place to share passion and joy. The center reflects the local community’s wish to hear children’s laughter again in this rural village where the population has declined. Yeongdong Wine Tunnel is a 420 m-long tunnel within the Rainbow Healing Tourist Site. It was built as a wine storage because caves present ideal conditions for wine storage. Here, visitors can browse the Wine Culture Hall, which details the history of wines; Yeongdong Wine Hall, which sells wine produced in Yeongdong; and a military magazine dating back to the Japanese Occupation. A wine festival is held every October.
