Privacy Policy
Korea Trip Guide (“this site”) takes your privacy seriously and complies with applicable law.
1. What we collect and how
This site does not offer user registration. Cookies, access logs (IP address and browser information) and visit history may be collected automatically. If you leave a comment, the name and email address you enter are stored together with your IP address, and WordPress saves those values in a cookie on your browser so that you do not have to type them again. If you write to us by email, the address you wrote from and the content of your message are stored.
2. Purpose of use
Collected information is used only for the following purposes: operating and maintaining the site; responding to your enquiries; analysing usage statistics and improving the content; serving advertising and measuring its performance; detecting and responding to abuse and security threats; and meeting obligations imposed by law. If we ever need to use it beyond this scope, we will tell you first and ask for your consent.
3. Retention and disposal
Data is retained for the period required by applicable law and then deleted without delay.

4. How personal data is destroyed
Personal data is destroyed without delay once its retention period ends or its purpose has been achieved. Data stored as electronic files is permanently deleted in a way that cannot be recovered or reconstructed, and this site does not print or keep personal data on paper. Where another law requires data to be kept, it is stored separately from other personal data for that period and then destroyed.
5. Disclosure to third parties
This site does not disclose your personal data to third parties. Exceptions apply only where a law specifically provides for it, or where an investigative authority requests it following the procedures set out in law. Where cookie data is passed on for advertising and traffic analysis, that is set out separately under “Processing entrusted to service providers” and “Transfer of personal data abroad” below.
6. Processing entrusted to service providers
To run this site we entrust parts of the processing to the providers listed below. The agreements with them — including the data processing terms each provider publishes — cover what Article 26 of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act requires: no use for any other purpose, the safeguards to be applied, limits on further sub-contracting, and liability for damage. If a provider or the work entrusted to it changes, we will announce it in this policy.

Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy. In particular, where a provider sets its own purposes and means — as Google does when it serves personalised advertising — we do not control how that processing is carried out.
7. Transfer of personal data abroad
The web server for this site is located in the Republic of Korea, and we do not transfer personal data abroad for hosting purposes. However, for advertising and traffic analysis, your connection data is transferred abroad as set out below.

This site does not show a cookie consent banner. Instead it applies Google Consent Mode v2, so if you visit from one of the 30 EEA countries, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, advertising and analytics cookies start out denied and stay that way, because there is no banner that could change it. If you visit from anywhere else, the transfers in the table above happen the moment you open a page, and you can refuse them at any time in the way described just below. The table and this section are how we inform you of the matters listed in Article 28-8(2) of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act. Enquiry email is something you send to an overseas mail service yourself; if you would rather write to an address held in Korea, please say so at the contact address below.
You can refuse these transfers by blocking cookies in your browser settings, or by using the opt-outs described under “Cookies and other automatic collection” below. Note that blocking advertising and analytics cookies means ads will be shown without regard to your interests.
8. Cookies and other automatic collection: how they work and how to refuse them
A cookie is a very small text file that a website sends to your browser and that is then stored on your device. This site offers no sign-up or log-in, so it sets almost no cookies of its own — the only one is the cookie WordPress saves when you leave a comment, so that you do not have to type your name and email address again. Every other cookie comes from the advertising and analytics services below.
Cookies and third-party advertising
This site may use third-party advertising services such as Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can opt out of Google’s advertising cookies (DART cookie) at Google Advertising Policies, and manage personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings.
If you would rather not store cookies, you can refuse them in your browser settings: in Chrome under Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, in Safari under Preferences → Privacy, and in Edge under Settings → Cookies and site permissions. If you block all cookies, some features may not work correctly.
9. Analytics
This site loads the Google tag, which routes to Google measurement services such as Google Analytics, so that we can understand how pages are used. Cookies send information such as device, browser and referral path to Google, and it is processed in a form that does not identify you directly. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
10. Children under 14
This site has no sign-up and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 14. If we learn that a child under 14 has entered personal data, for example in a comment, we destroy it without delay. If you believe your child’s data has been collected, please tell us at the address below. A legal guardian may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a halt to the processing of a child’s personal data.
11. Sensitive data and unique identifiers
This site does not collect sensitive data as defined in Article 23 of the Personal Information Protection Act — such as beliefs, health condition or political opinion — nor the unique identifiers defined in Article 24, such as resident registration numbers. Nor do we keep a record linking your name or contact details to what you have read. As set out under “Analytics” and “Cookies” above, however, the advertising and analytics providers do link visit history to a cookie identifier that does not directly identify you.
12. Safeguards
Under Article 29 of the Personal Information Protection Act, this site applies the following measures.
- Collecting as little as possible — there is no sign-up or log-in, so we do not keep names or contact details on an ongoing basis.
- Encryption in transit — every page is served over HTTPS (TLS), so traffic between you and the server is encrypted.
- Access control — administrator accounts are held by the smallest number of people needed to run the site, and automated publishing uses a scoped application password rather than the account password.
- Password protection — account passwords are stored as hashes that cannot be turned back into the original.
- Access logs — web server access records are kept and deleted once the retention period above has passed.
- Security updates — security updates for the software that runs the site are applied.
That said, no method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure. Despite the measures above we cannot guarantee absolute security, and if we become aware of a breach we will notify those affected and take the steps the law requires.
13. Links to other sites
Pages on this site may link out to other sites, such as maps and official information pages. Once you follow such a link, that site’s own privacy policy governs what happens, and we are not responsible for its content or for how it handles personal data. Please check the policy of any external site before giving it your personal data.
14. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a halt to the processing of your personal data at any time. Contact us at the address below and we will act without undue delay and tell you the outcome.
You can exercise these rights by email or in writing at the address below, and you may act through a legal guardian or an authorised representative. Requests for access, correction, deletion or suspension of processing may be limited under Article 35(4), the proviso to Article 36(1) and Article 37(2) of the Personal Information Protection Act; where that happens we will tell you why.
Where processing rests on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not make the processing that happened before it unlawful, and once you withdraw we delete the data concerned without delay.
15. Where to turn if your rights are infringed
If you need advice or help about a privacy infringement, you can contact the Korean bodies below. They are independent of this site. If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you may also lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in your own country (EEA list at edpb.europa.eu).

17. Changes to this policy
This policy applies from 2026-08-27. If in future we add to, remove from or amend it because the law, our practices or security technology change, we will post the change on this page at least seven days before it takes effect. If you need the version that applied previously, please ask at the address below.
