Seonyudo Park is Korea’s first water-themed ecological park. The park was renewed from an old water treatment plant. Visitors can observe a water purification system, an aquatic plant garden, and an ecological forest, as well as exhibitions and other interesting facilities. The park also hosts diverse hands-on programs and exhibitions.

Situated on the southern part of the Hangang River, Yanghwa Hangang Park stretches between the mouth of Yeouido Saetgang Tributary and the Gayang Bridge in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. This spacious park is lush with vegetation and offers a spectacular view of the river.

The park is located nearby a number of other attractions including Seonyudo Park, an island in the river, which has been transformed into an ecological park; Seonyu Bridge; and the World Cup Fountains, with jets shooting 202 meters in x_height.

There is a wide bike trail that runs through the park that connects this park with the other Hangang River Parks. Every May, the bike trail is flanked by lush green grass and beautiful roses, making it the ideal photo spot.

Jeoldusan Martyrs’ Shrine is the site where many Catholic believers were executed in 1866 due to persecution. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the martyrdom, the Korean Catholic Church opened the Memorial Hall in October 1967, exhibiting materials, relics, and souvenirs related to the Korean Catholic Church and operating a museum. Pope Johannes Paulus II visited the site in 1984, and Mother Teresa visited in 1985.

Korean Martyrs’ Museum was opened in October of 1967 as Jeoldusan Martyrs’ Shrine, in memory of the Catholic martyrs who lost their lives during the Byeongin Persecution of 1866. The name of the museum changed to the current Korean Martyrs’ Museum in August 2008. The museum displays artifacts and materials in exhibitions related to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea.

Hapjeongok is a gomtang (beef bone soup) specialty restaurant located near Hapjeong Station. Using domestically sourced beef brisket and bones, they prepare around 100 servings of soup each day. The signature dish is the rich and subtly fragrant gomtang, complemented by menu items such as yukhoe (beef tartare) and suyuk (boiled pork slices) that go well together.

Near Mapo-gu, Mangwon Hangang Park is situated on the northern part of the river, between Wonhyodaegyo Bridge and Seongsandaegyo Bridge. It offers lush grass perfect for picnics and promenades. Since it’s located close to the World Cup Stadium, this spacious park is often full of residents and visitors. There is a wide array of excellent amenities: a bike trail, an outdoor swimming pool, sports facilities, and a dock for water sports such as yachting, waterskiing, and motor boating. Cultural attractions near the park include Mangwon Pavilion and Jeoldusan Martyrs’ Shrine.

Located right behind the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, this marina facility has a rather unique scenery that one cannot easily find in Korea, thanks to the view of the Hangang River and the yachts moored at the marina. Professionals operate the yachts here, so safety is guaranteed. Yacht rides here are popular because one can enjoy a sailing experience in the city center. Another draw of the yacht rides here is the scenery of Seoul, especially at night.
