Other interesting dishes include dori baengbaeng (glazed deep-fried minnows), tteokgalbi (grilled galbi patties), maeuntang (spicy fish stew), and bingeo twigim (deep-fried pond smelt).

Unlike the more common temple arrangements, the stone pagoda in Yongamsa is uniquely situated on a low peak in the north with a view on all sides. The East and West Three-story Stone Pagodas of Yongamsa Temple, a designated Treasure, can be found here, as well as Rock-caved Buddha, and Wooden Seated Amitabha Buddha in Daeseongjeon Hall.

Located approximately 16 kilometers northeast of Cheongju
City, Chojeongyaksu Mineral Spring is acknowledged as one of the three major mineral springs in the world. Chojeong Mineral Spring was discovered around 600 years ago and became nationally known ever since as the source of naturally carbonated water that has a piquant and cool taste. It is said that King Sejong (1397-1450, reign 1418-1450) visited the springs in 1444 and stayed here for 60 days to treat an eye infection. The daily yield of carbonated water here is 458 tons, which is used for producing natural soda drinks. There are presently two mineral water plant facilities in the area. The healing effects of Chojeongyaksu Mineral Spring are presumed to come from the abundant radium contained in the water, which is effective in treating eye infections and skin ailments.

This traditional market is located in downtown Chungju. It is the largest market in Chungju, beloved by locals as well. Unlike other traditional markets, it has an alley dedicated to sundae and mandu. Sundae and mandu are two Korean favorites that offer flavor and nutrition in equal measure, so there are a lot of stalls that serve the duo in Muhak Market. Chungju-style sundae soup in particular is known for its inclusion of dried radish leaves, which impart a deep flavor to the soup.

Sundae is a beloved traditional dish enjoyed as a snack in Korea. It is made by filling pork or beef intestines with mung bean sprouts, dried napa cabbage, glass noodles, and other ingredients, which are then flavored with soybean paste. Different regions and different shops have their own takes on the dish, along with different choices of sauce. Cheongpungjip, located in Muhak Market, Chungju, is famous for its Chungju-style sundae soup, served with dried radish or napa cabbage leaves. Its taste is so well-known that visitors from other cities come to this place just to get the soup as a takeout. The management is also known for their hearty approach to business, with extra sundae, intestines, or side dishes being a common addition to the flavors of Chungju’s tradition. You can find the store within the Sundae and Mandu Alley.
