Samaksan Mountain Lake Cable Car is the longest cable car in Korea, which connects Samcheon-dong and Samaksan Mountain across Uiamho Lake. The 20 Crystal Cabins among the 66 total cabins offer the best choice to enjoy the beautiful Uiamho Lake and Samaksan Mountain. Samaksan Lake Cable Car Building, which resembles a bow and boomerang, has a variety of amenities. There are restaurants, convenience stores, cafés, and souvenir shops at Uiamho Lake Stop (lower platform). Visitors can enjoy the beautiful view of Chuncheon with a cup of tea at the café at Samaksan Mountain Stop (upper platform).

Embracing Uiamho Lake, KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon is a cultural complex that consists of the Art Center and the Stay building. The Art Center was established by remodeling the previous Chuncheon Children’s Center, while the Stay building was built by remodeling the previous Gangwon-do Sports Center. With an open view of the lake at the front, the Art Center is known for its construction design by Korea’s master architect, late Kim Swoo-geun. When viewed from the sky, the Art Center, which was built with Kim’s unique construction technique, resembles a butterfly sitting on the lakeside. Opened as the Children’s Center in 1980, the building was abandoned for a while and then was re-born as KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon in 2014. Sangsangmadang, as part of the social contribution and restoration program of KT&G, aims to support various cultural and arts activities and offer the public an opportunity to appreciate arts and culture. While keeping its original frame of the construction in consideration of its architectural value, KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon provides diverse amenities such as a theater, gallery, cafe, art shop, and so on. It has also a charming outdoor space. It has an outdoor stage near Uiamho Lake, and the walking path and the bicycle path are available in front of the stage. In addition, the Forest Experience Center for Children behind the outdoor stage provides diverse interesting attractions.

Chuncheon Myeongmul Dakgalbi, a specialty restaurant renowned for dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken), is situated near the scenic Bukhangang River and Uiamho Lake. Chuncheon is celebrated as the city of dakgalbi. Their signature dish features spicy seasoned chicken stir-fried with vegetables, tteok (rice cake), and sweet potatoes on an iron plate, offering an exquisite flavor. The city of Chuncheon is surrounded by Uiamho, Chuncheonho, and Soyangho Lakes and is widely known as “Lake City.” Much like the Hangang Riverside Parks are a representative landmark of Seoul, Gongjicheon Resort beside the stream is a treasure of Chuncheon. The resort is complete with a sculpture park, fountain, boat dock, outdoor stage, playground and more.
⊙ Gongjicheon Recreation Area (공지천유원지)
The area of Gongjicheon Stream connected to the Bukhangang River is a shelter in the middle of Chuncheon City. This recreation area comprises various facilities along both sides of the Gongjicheon Stream, including Gongjicheon Sculpture Park, Uiam Park, Memorial Hall for Ethiopian Veterans in the Korean War, inline skating rink, outdoor stage, and fountain. Visitors can cross the water easily through the Gongjicheon Bridge and the lower pedestrian bridge. The waterside trail and the bike path are popular among citizens with the seasonal scenic view. In particular, cherry blossom attracts many visitors in spring. There is a bicycle rental stand nearby the stream. It is recommended to enjoy biking around the Gongjicheon Stream or along the Uiamho Bike Path. Another interesting ride is a pedal boat with which visitors can create a romantic memory with a splendid scenery of the Gongjicheon Stream.
