This production reimagines Rossini’s world-famous operaThe Barber of Sevillewith the added charm of musical theater and comedy. Blending the elegance of classic opera with lighthearted humor, the show makes all arias accessible in Korean.
The story follows Count Almaviva, who falls in love at first sight with the beautiful Rosina, only to learn that she is confined by her greedy guardian, Dr. Bartolo. With the help of Figaro—the town’s quick-witted jack-of-all-trades—Count Almaviva devises clever schemes to outwit Dr. Bartolo and win Rosina’s heart.
Audiences are treated to live operatic renditions of beloved arias, including “Largo al factotum,” while the musical-style adaptation lowers the barrier to opera, making it an inviting entry point for newcomers to the genre.

Opened on April 1, 1981, Arko Arts Theater’s mission statement is to “boost performance art, obtain performance space to promote its popularity among the public, and support stages to pure art organizations facing financial difficulties.” As the center of performance art, the theater also began to attract a slew of small theaters and has played a pivotal role in promoting performance art and populating Dongsung-dong with artists. The theater offers a large hall, small hall, multipurpose studio space, and practice room.
