Romantic Cart Bars is a street located under the Yeosu Geobukseon Bridge, where numerous food trucks gather. Eighteen food trucks offer a variety of signature dishes made with seafood. Popular among tourists, visitors can enjoy delicious food while admiring the night view of Yeosu’s sea and the bridge. Nearby attractions include the Hamel Lighthouse and the Yeosu Maritime Cable Car.

Located on the Yeosubando Peninsula, the city of Yeosu is made up of three historic areas that share the Sino-Korean character “Ryeo” (beautiful: 麗) in their names, namely Yeosu-si, Yeocheon-si, and Yeocheon-gun. The trio was integrated and became one city in April of 1998. Jasan Park is located at the entrance to Odongdo Island’s embankment. It is a place where one can have a view of the city of Yeosu, Odongdo Island, and the sea at Namhae. Climb the steep stairs to the top and find thousands of evergreen trees and plants, planted on a wide plateau. The park also has a 15-meter statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, the largest in Korea, unveiled as a part of the great hero’s birthday in 1967 and the first Jinnamje Festival. Inside the park are Jasangak Pavilion and Chunghontap Tower overlooking the sea. Ilchuljeong Pavilion was added in 1998 to serve as a refuge for the citizens of Yeosu.

Goso-dong Mural Village, located on a hill with a panoramic view of the sea, is filled with various murals on walls and pavements depicting Yeosu’s history, culture, and daily life. The village is 1,004 meters long, earning the name “Cheonsa (Angel) Mural Village” because “1,004” sounds like “angel” in Korean. The area features cafés, photo spots, a live performance zone, Moonlight Gallery, and the Yi Sun-Sin Tactical Kite Museum. At Opodae Park, there is an observation deck offering a stunning view of the Yeosu cityscape.

Dongbaek Hoegwan is a Korean table d’hote restaurant located near Yeosu Expo Park. Meals are provided according to the number of people and price range. A table full of seasonal seafood such as blue crab, flatfish, shrimp, webfoot octopus, sea urchin, and octopus is generously prepared. With a variety of cooking methods including raw fish dishes, soups, braised dishes, and mixed seafood platters, it is a must-visit restaurant for seafood lovers.

Dolsan Park, located across from Dolsan Bridge, was created in 1987 on
land spanning over 287,000 square meters. A teahouse inside the park was originally a TV drama shooting set. The teahouse offers a fine view of Dolsan Bridge, so visitors often stop by to drink tea while enjoying the view. The view point at the park also overlooks magnificent sunsets over Dolsan Bridge and exquisite night views of Dolsan Bridge, Marine Park, and Janggundo Island. The Memorial Time Capsule, containing various materials related to the merger of Yeosu city, was buried at the center of park in 1994 and will be opened in 2094.

⊙ Jwasuyeong Bridge (좌수영다리)

Jwasuyeong Bridge connects Jinnamgwan Hall, the central base of the Joseon Navy, and the Monument for the Naval Victories of Yi Sun-sin. Jwasuyeong was one of the military bases of the Joseon Navy. The walls of the bridge are adorned with depictions of Admiral Yi’s achievements and stories, allowing visitors to appreciate them as they cross. Continued to walk after the bridge will lead to Angel Mural Alley, making it an excellent spot for further sightseeing.

Hanhwa Aqua Planet Yeosu is the second largest aquarium in Korea and the first to be built entirely aboveground. Opened in 2012 with the Yeosu World Expo, the aquarium is an environmentally friendly building, using solar power for most of its energy use. The aquarium is divided into different sections such as Ocean Life, Marine Life, and Aqua Forest, as well as a hands-on experience zone. There are approximately 55,000 marine animals of about 300 species including rare animals such as beluga (white whale) and baikal seal living in the aquarium.

Yeosu Maritime Cable Car is the first of its kind in Korea, connecting Dolsan Island and the mainland over the ocean. Passengers can choose between the standard cabins and crystal cabins. In particular, crystal cabins allow passengers to observe the ocean below ones feet, experiencing the thrill of being suspended in mid-air through its transparent flooring.

This is the place where Wanna One’s Jaehwan visited with Yoon Jisung as a part of the web series “Paljjangzgram.” The two listened to music with Bluetooth connection in the cable car and drew each others’ portraits, and Jisung expressed his thanks for the invitation, saying, “Thank you for bringing me along, and I think I will never forget this memory.”
