Yangjindang (하회 양진당)

Located in Hahoe Village, Andong, Hahoe Yangjindang House is the main ancestral home of the Pungsan Ryu clan, designated as a national treasure, and is also known as Ipam Gotaek. It is special for the coexistence of the Sarangchae, which features Goryeo architectural styles, and the Anchae, which maintains Joseon architectural styles. The guest rooms are modest and elegant, while traditional mother-of-pearl inlaid chests, display cabinets filled with tableware, and ceramics placed throughout the space evoke the feeling of a small Folk Museum. Visitors can enjoy traditional folk games, and experience programs such as home-brewed rice wine making and the preparation of rice cakes and traditional tea snacks are also offered.

Rakkojae is a guest house by the ferry over the Nakdong River in Hahoe Village, Andong, Geyongsangbuk-do. It consists of four buildings, each with one or two guest rooms. All rooms have a private bathroom, and one incorporates a sauna.  Starlit and moonlit evenings in Hahoe refresh both mind and body, and by crossing the river by ferry boat and climbing Buyongdae Cliff, visitors can enjoy panoramas of the historic village and beautiful Nakdong valley. Another ‘must see’ is the nearby Mansongjeong Pine Forest – one of Korea’s Natural Monuments.

Hahoe Mask Museum is located in Andong Hahoe Village, a representative traditional Korean folk town that is the home of the Hahoe Mask (National Treasure) and the Byeolsin Gut Mask Dance (Important Intangible Cultural Property). The museum displays not only Hahoe masks, but also other traditional masks from all over the world.

The museum consists of five permanant exhibition halls and one special exhibition hall, housing a wide range of masks from all over the world along with Hahoe masks. The museum also offers activity programs such as wearing a mask, mask trick art, photo zone, and more.
