Mokpo, one of three major ports in Korea, is a key center for trade and logistics. The Mokpo Port Festival recreates the traditional Pasi Market culture of Mokpo Port, offering a variety of food, entertainment, and experiences. Visitors can participate in live auctions at a ship for fresh seafood and enjoy the ocean view while grilling their purchases at the cooking station. In addition, the festival features a variety of maritime parades, navy band performances, and shows by art troupes from Mokpo’s overseas sister cities, all reflecting Mokpo’s identity as a port city.◎ Pasi MarketA market formed on the sea where merchant ships and traders gather near fishing grounds.

Samhakdo Island is a small island off the coast of Mokpo that has been incorporated into the mainland due to silt accumulation. Samhakdo Cruise offers sightseeing cruises around the major attractions of Mokpo on the sea. During the day, they operate the Seascape City Tour, and in the evening, they offer Sunset and Fireworks Tours. Departing from the old coastal pier of Samhakdo Island, the cruise passes by Mokpo Maritime Cable Car Tower, Mokpodaegyo Bridge, and the Dancing Ocean Fountain before returning to the departure point. Catholic Mokpo Shrine is not only the starting point of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju, a central hub of Catholicism in Korea, but also the place where the first Legion of Mary (Lay Faith Community) headquarters in Korea was established.
