The Siheung Gaetgol Festival is an eco-festival held at Siheung Gaetgol Eco Park, the only inland tidal creek in Gyeonggi-do. Surrounded by wetlands and former salt fields, the festival offers a variety of ways to relax, learn, and have fun in nature. To help protect the park’s natural environment, it is held as a car-free event. A signature program is the salt-pan performance, “Memories of Salt, Dance of Water.” Other performances include Concert in Gaetgol, Salt Warehouse Puppet Theater, Forest Music Festival, and the Gaetgol Senior Runway. Visitors can also enjoy a wide range of activities, including a Fantasy Hot-Air Balloon Experience, Gaetgol Adventure, Salt Play & Barefoot Salt Trail, SEA POOL Party, Insect Exploration Experience, Gaetgol Is My Playground for the Day, Salt Farm Experience, Slow Post Office, “Walk Siheung” Walking Festival, Siheung Salt Farm Ritual, Street Arts Festival, Gaetgol National Art Competition, Gaetgol Retro Photo Studio, and the Gaetgol Stamp Rally.

Siheung Gaetgol Eco Park in Gyeonggi-do features the nation’s only inland beach along the shores of a river that ebbs and flows with the ocean tide. The park offers the chance to learn about the traditional salt-making techniques, as well as the many unique flora that grow here. The park was designated as a National Ocean Wetland Protection Zone in February 2012.
